Yesterday was something Justin has worked very hard for over the past 5 months! I remember when he first told me he got accepted into the academy. He asked me to change my plans for something, to which I was super confused and flustered about. Then he proceeded to tell me why he needed me to change my plans (finally) and just casually mentioned he got accepted to Chesterfield’s Fire Academy!!!! It was wonderful news and something Justin has been dreaming about for a long time!

He’s been a volunteer firefighter since he was 16 and grew up watching his dad serve as well. It’s been a part of him his whole life. When he got accepted this was something exciting for everyone. July 7th was his first day. I’ve never seen someone so excited to go running and workout in the heat of the summer.

Justin found out his station assignment the other week and on Sunday will start his first shift. I’m so proud of him for all of his hard work! He has worked his booty off (seriously, have you seen how in shape he is?!)!!! There were days it got hard and he pushed through. There were days when he appreciated everything he was going through. This is where he’s meant to be. It’s his heart and passion and I’m so thankful he’s able to do what he loves.

Thank you, God for being with Justin and the other recruits during the academy! This is such an exciting adventure and I can’t wait to see him live out his passion!
