2014-06-04_0004contrary to what my schedule allows, i actually love to read! when i was in middle and high school, i would devour my favorite books in a day or two. i love all kinds of books! except maybe sci-fi! haha. not sure how i’d do with those!

i’m still finishing up the divergent series. and even though i’ve been warned by countless people to just put the third book down and walk away, i can’t.  i have to know what happens! haha. plus, i love four way too much to just leave him hanging like that. haha. #nerdstatus

after i finish that book, i’m ready to start my “summer reading list” haha. these books have been chillin’ on my shelf for a while and i’m hoping to find make some time to read this. i do know, for justin’s birthday, we’ll be at the beach and then headed to the obx to shoot a wedding, so hopefully i’ll be able to do some reading in my favorite place! seriously, the last time i went on a real vacation, i read so many books! sitting in the sun, with the sound of the waves in the background is my favorite place to get lost in a story!

i’m excited about this group of books because they’re all so different too! that’s just the way i like it! it will also keep me on my toes and not be so sad when i finish! haha. that’s my least favorite part about ending a phenomenal book. when you get to the end and you’re trying to delay the last page as long as possible to savor as much of the story as you can. gah! that’s always so hard! at least i’ll have another book to jump into right after so i don’t get lost in my feelings hahaha.

so here’s my list:

the giver – i’m excited about this book because i haven’t read this since i was 14 ( that was 11 years ago! man, i’m old!)! it’ll be fun to re-read it before the movie comes out!

tribes – this will be nice to read! i’ve heard it’s a great business book and i am looking forward to digging in!

gone girl – i may be weird, but i LOVE dark books! the lovely bones was one of my all time favorites. i’m looking forward to reading this book because i’ve heard it’s pretty twisted and you can’t stop reading it! plus, i heard they’re making a movie about it with ben affleck! yes, please! 🙂

crazy love – i have heard so many incredible things about this book! i’ve heard it’s life-changing and i can’t wait to have my world rocked by God.

the fault in our stars   – i’m also a weird person, because not only do i like dark books, i LOVE a good tear-jerker! i don’t know what it is, but i love the emotions behind books like this and can’t wait to read it! i also can’t wait for the movie too! 🙂

one thousand gifts – i actually haven’t heard much about this book, but i totally judged it by its cover! i love the picture on the front, therefore, i bought it. makes perfect sense, right?! i can’t wait to read it, though! usually i end up liking books like that better, because i have absolutely no expectations of how they’re going to be!

welp, here’s my list for the summer! what about you? what books are you dying to read? are the any i should add to my list?!

  • I just bought Divergent! So excited to read it. I highly recommend these two: The Paris Wife by Paula McLain and The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin! I also plan to read The Fault in Our Stars – I’ve loved John Green’s books since I was assigned Looking for Alaska in my YA Literature class at Longwood!

  • You will enjoy Francis Chan. What an extraordinary man of God. have You seen his youtube? it is a great watch not read! What is obx?

  • I read Divergent a long time ago and loved it… But the last one…. Well, Yeaaa…. You’ll get there lol. If you like Divergent you’ll probably also like the Delerium series! I used to read all of the time and I just can’t find time to do it anymore. I’m trying to read Wild right now and I like it but I keep falling asleep simply because I’m wiped out from my day and the moment I get into bed and pick up a book it’s too late and I pass out immediately haha. Also check out books by Sarah Jio (loooooove her books) and she’s local to Washington so maybe I’m slightly biased, but she has a beautiful writing style.

  • Girl, I LOVE Four and Divergent, too. I haaaad to finish that last book too. You just have to. Although, I liked it! Tribes is great! But my current obsession is The Fault in Our Stars. I have, like, an unwavering devotion to that book. Read it before you see the movie!! And soon! 😀
